Mablene Krueger is a 1977 graduate of Robert Morris (College) University. In addition to her Associate Degree from Robert Morris, Mablene holds a BA in Management and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a certificate in IT Systems from the University of Chicago. Mablene’s professional experience includes positions at IBM Corporation and Western Illinois University before “coming back home” to RMU. Mablene was a faculty member at two branch campuses for 15 years before becoming the Campus Director of the Springfield branch in 1995. In 2000, Ms. Krueger became the Senior Vice President of Advancement for the institution. She then became the Senior Vice President for Academics in 2001 and subsequently the Provost, serving as the University’s Chief Academic Officer for 14 years. In July 2015, Robert Morris University’s Board of Trustees named Mablene Krueger as the 9th President of the University.
As the first in her family to attend college, Mablene is passionate about the strengths and challenges of first-generation students. With the goal of leading RMU to become the Midwest’s leading experiential university, Ms. Krueger’s priorities for the institution include building additional career-related majors, taking full advantage of the educational, cultural, ethnic, and entertainment opportunities provided by a world-class city, and dramatically expanding the participatory opportunities of the extra-curricular programs. Paramount is the commitment to increasing opportunity and success of the diverse population RMU serves. In an effort to advance these goals, Mablene works with groups including the Yes We Must Coalition, Partnership for College Completion, the Illinois cohort of Presidents for Latino Student Success, and the National Society for Experiential Education.
